Saturday morning we both slept in a bit after the late hockey game on Friday. after finally getting up, we took some coffee and fruit before heading out to Marcy’s gym. we worked out for a bit and then rewarded ourselves with some skinny Starbucks lattes. while we were out, we also took an extended shopping trip through the local Whole Foods (which I have been obsessing over for the past month – there are none in the Grand Rapids area whatsoever). it was Marcy’s first shopping experience there and I think she’s completely sold on it now too. and conveniently, we were able to pick up some salads at Panera Brad for lunch on the way back too. I took Marcy’s advice to try their Fuji Apple Chicken Salad and I’m glad I did – yum!
after lunch Marcy treated us to bumpy cupcakes we picked up from the bakery section at Whole Foods. they were so rich that I could only eat half, but it was so amazing!
after fixing ourselves up, we went back out and did some shopping at Somerset Mall in Troy, MI. got a few cute things that I will share with you later. but didn’t spend too much since I’m trying to save up for an upcoming trip to Michigan City, where there is a large outlet mall. that is coming up the day before Easter, so I have to save up enough between now and then.
around 9, we had reservations at Ruth’s Chris. I tried the Harvest Salad, which I would definitely order again and ordered the Vegetarian Plate (Sweet Potato Casserole – topped with candied pecans, Broccoli Au Gratin, and Shoestring Fries); to die for! we shared the Sizzling Crab Cakes for an appetizer, which was also tasted amazing. Marcy ordered the Riesling and I had Woodford Reserve bourbon. it was a later meal, but definitely a good time.
we had yet another late night, after arriving back to Marcy’s apartment where we caught the last highlights of the Red Wings vs. Vancouver game. another win for Detroit in Canada! and this time, we did it all on our own ;]
