stayed in and made a wonderful dinner. in the photo (above), you can see the pretzel-covered hot dogs and thick cheese sauce for dipping. both are completely homemade (minus the actual hot dogs, of course). tried out Short’s Brewing’s MMMKAY and VanderMill’s Totally Roasted (hard cider), both are Michigan (and local) favorites. even went so far as to also include some stone ground mustard to dip the hot dogs in. I picked up this great mustard made with Founder’s Dirty Bastard (local craft beer).
I scored this awesome recipe from one of my favorite foodie blogs, How Sweet It Is. the recipe itself is called “Jalapeno Pretzel Dogs with Cheddar Beer Sauce” and you can find the original version at this direct link. the only real substitution was using turkey hot dogs and the beer I used for the cheese dip was Bell’s Lager of the Lakes (another Michigan craft favorite).
