Wedding Season Begins

in New York, the weather is beginning to warm up and I’ve totally got dresses on the brain!

if you’re anything like me, once one of your friends got engaged, seemingly hoards of others followed suit. and everyone wants their wedding-related plans to be during the fairest of weather for the year. so, now that spring has FINALLY arrived, wedding season is officially starting along with it! and there’s no better reason to pick up a new dress than a spring wedding or bridal shower. in this post, I’m sharing some of my favorites.

fit and flare is really my favorite shape for a dress; it seems to be the most universally-flattering and works well for me. with the bright floral patterns pictured above, these really seem ultra-feminine and practically shout “spring”, don’t you think? I would choose any of these for a spring wedding or a shower, paired with a neutral pair of pumps or wedges and chunky bracelets.

shift dresses are a classic look. and what’s especially convenient is that their dressiness can be boosted with the right accessories. for example, the first dress (aqua) can work well with a bold statement necklace. the other two, which have neckline embroidery, would be great with thin and understated chains. adding a simple cardigan makes any of these transition perfectly to the workplace as well. these are good choices for a daytime spring wedding or shower.

a quality maxi dress is a must-have in my book as well. the longer length makes it great for when the temperatures cool down in the evenings, which happens more drastically in the springtime. that makes the maxi dress option a good choice for springtime wedding receptions that will go into the evening or for a shower that is on a cooler day. typically, I like to pair a long dress with a long necklace and wedges.

what are you wearing as spring wedding season starts ramping up?
